Date:2017-05-24

On May 22, 2017, Quality Brands Protection Committee of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (referred as QBPC below) and International Trademark Association (referred as INTA hereinafter) signed Cooperation Agreement on the INTA’s 139th Annual Meeting in Barcelona. The Agreement effects from May 2017 to May 2020.

On May 11, 2014, QBPC and INTA signed the Cooperation Agreement for the first time on occasion of INTA’s 136th Annual Meeting in Hong Kong. QBPC and INTA became partners from that moment. Based on the Agreement, two parties may engage in the cooperation including development of programs and specific collaborative projects related to trademarks, dispute settlement, trademark rights enforcement and in other related areas; exchange of research and information on issues of mutual interest; exchange of experiences and educational material.

According to the Agreement signed in 2017, two parties will keep cooperating in development of programs and specific collaborative projects related to trademarks, dispute settlement and trademark rights enforcement. But there are added values in the renewal agreement, such as promoting each other on the official website and newsletters, sharing events regularly and giving discounts to the members of each other for the events participation. Especially, a proposed work plan is released this time. Both sides will work closely in education event exchange and support, marketing, communication, membership and policy advocacy. The work plan will be served as a guide for both sides in the coming three years.

Mr. Joe Ferreti, President of INTA, Mr. Etienne Sanz de Acedo, CEO of INTA, Ms. Tish L. Berard, President-elect of INTA and Jack Chang, QBPC Chairman,Yao Xin, QBPC Executive Director,Sherry Hu, QBPC Membership Service Manager and a dozen member representatives of QBPC attended the signing ceremony. Joe Ferreti introduced 2018-2021 INTA strategy. Etienne Sanz de Acedo said that INTA valued the cooperation with QBPC and looked forward to continuing it. Jack Chang stated that INTA was an internationally influential organization with a history of 139 years. And QBPC, young though it was, had easy access to information and good network on the ground, which enabled QBPC to make changes on impossible missions.  Jack believed that the cooperation would go deeper and make more sense.

It is encouraging and exciting to witness QBPC and INTA join hands and cooperate again. We sincerely hope the exchange and cooperation between both sides will keep going!
