Benefits of Membership

QBPC offers two levels of membership: General and Voting membership. Following is a brief overview of the benefits of each level.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP

  • Collective Political Influence - As the leading multinational organization dedicated to fighting counterfeiting in China, members benefit from the QBPC’s collective political influence in three primary ways. First, positive name recognition has made the QBPC a high-profile organization fostering good working relations with the Chinese government on the broad range of intellectual property protection matters. Second, the united efforts of QBPC member companies have been instrumental in illustrating the severity of the counterfeiting, patent and trade secret theft problem in China. Third, individual companies can avoid unnecessary and awkward exposure by positioning themselves through the QBPC on anti-counterfeiting issues.
  • Increased Government Access - The QBPC has made inroads to identifying and meeting with officials at various levels / divisions of government in China who take an active interest in intellectual property protection efforts, QBPC members obtain direct benefits from the government response following such meetings, and can collectively influence policy on legal, enforcement, and other issues. The QBPC also maintains records of the contact information of these officials and makes it available to members.
  • Effective Lobbying Channel - Numerous lobbying opportunities have emerged from the QBPC’s name recognition and positive relations with the Chinese government. Issues of utmost concern are introduced to Chinese government officials in one-on-one meetings as well as through larger-scale presentations and seminars. As the QBPC continues to grow, its message further proliferates, and many officials have come to understand that they must act on this important issue. QBPC has been instrumental in lobbying the Chinese government to strengthen IPR laws and enforcement.
  • Exclusive Access to Meetings and Events - Members, under the auspices of the QBPC, sponsor Best Practices Seminars, attend special lectures and events, and have the opportunity to meet and develop working relations with local officials. Members also congregate at general meetings and smaller, more informal gatherings to discuss latest developments and voice concerns and suggestions.
  • Committee Involvement - QBPC members can opt to stay up-to-date on the latest Coalition developments by participating in any of the QBPC’s seven committees.

Committee meetings also serve as a forum for discussion of members’ top issues and concerns.

  • Industry Working Groups - To date, QBPC members have formed twelve industry working groups in order to more effectively address industry-specific counterfeiting issues. Industry Working Groups are member-driven and can utilize QBPC’s pooled resources, such as access to government contacts, QBPC events and meetings, and secretarial support. Any group of members with a shared interest in a particular industry can form an Industry Working Group if they get approval from the Steering Council.
  • Shared Knowledge / Experience Base - As the QBPC is a member-driven organization, members also help each other by pooling their information based on research and past experience.
