Luxury Goods IWG IP Salon Held Successfully

Create Time:2022-09-02

On the afternoon of August 30, the Quality Brands Protection Committee of China Association of Enterprise with Foreign Investment (QBPC) Luxury Goods IWG held the second online and offline IP protection salon in 2022. The conference was presided over by Miller Wang, coordinator of the Luxury Goods IWG. Three speakers included Dennis To from Ralph Lauren, Kyle Zhu from MCM and James Luo, authorized agent lawyer of a member company. More than 20 representatives from 17 member companies participated in the event.

First, the participants discussed the agenda and arrangements of the Xiamen IWG Meeting in September. Due to the impact of the epidemics, the IWG meeting in Xiamen will be carried out simultaneously in the form of "online + offline”.

After that, the representatives from Ralph Lauren introduced the application of safety label and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)technology in the field of product authenticity identification. RFID technology could greatly improve the efficiency and accuracy of identification, which is of great help to IPR protection.

Next, in view of the increasingly severe online counterfeiting, members brainstormed and shared their experience on the situation of counterfeit goods, and complaints and governance on major e-commerce platforms and content platforms.

Finally, in view of the current difficulties faced by foreign-funded enterprises in the process of entrusting lawyers to handle IP disputes, the participants further proposed to sort out and summarize the specific problems encountered by various companies in right protection, and suggested that the problems be reflected to the Intellectual Property Court of Supreme People's Court through QBPC, which might issue relevant documents or meeting minutes on standard practice.

During the meeting, the online and offline participants enthusiastically got involved in the discussion and learned a lot from each other. At the end of the meeting, Miller Wang once again thanked the speakers and delegates, and looked forward to the next event of the IWG.
