by Miller Wang

On April 30, QBPC Sports, Fashion and Lifestyle IWG and Luxury Goods IWG met representatives of Pinduoduo, Senior Vice President Andre Zhu and Legal Council Michael Chu. 11 QBPC members, including L Brands, Capri/MK, Kering, Levi Strauss, Lululemon, MLB, MCM, New Balance, Spalding and Puma, attended the meeting. This was the first offline meeting for the two IWGs as the lockdown measures began to ease.

Participants focused on issues such as disclosing seller information, procedures for submitting a complaint and providing evidence, measures against infringers, the time frame for handling the complaint, copycatting brand stores and using brands’ product photos without authorization etc. The two sides discussed how to enhance punishment against infringers and improve communications between right holders and the platform. Pinduoduo representatives answered members’ questions, explained that the platform had different views on legal questions and hoped to work together with QBPC members to improve IP protection in e-commerce. The two sides were committed to create mechanisms for future collaborations.
