Microsoft Open Day- Membership Service Journey

Create Time:2020-12-10

On October 23, 2020, the Microsoft Open Day was successfully held at the Microsoft Building in Beijing for QBPC members. It was the sixth event of the 2020 Member Service Journey series and the first offline communication event.

Alvin Deng, Chairman of the Patent and Innovation committee and Head of Intellectual Property Department of Novozymes (China) Investment Co., Ltd. said in the opening speech, "I would like to thank Microsoft for its great support to this event, and look forward to the extensive communication and cooperation between Microsoft and members in intellectual property protection on the platform of QBPC.

Mr. Tao Yang, Director of Public and Legal Affairs Department and Senior Attorney of Microsoft (China) Co., Ltd. welcomed everyone to the event and introduced that the event was divided into two parts, namely, a visit to Microsoft Center One and an exchange of experience on Microsoft's solutions for protecting user data and intellectual property, maintaining user trust and brand protection.

Visit to Microsoft Center One - Experience Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization

How far away are these seemingly "boring" but "high" and "trendy" technical terms like cloud computing and big data from our daily work and life? After coming to Center One, it dawned on us that everyone is a link between technology and life, and the process of thinking and interacting with each other makes innovation and technology real and palpable.

When we came to Microsoft Center One, we learned about series of applications of big data and artificial intelligence technology, such as the use to realize the prediction and operation planning of cargo ships at sea, images recognition and design, the songwriting and singing of songs synthesized by AI in a short period of time after reading the information in the pictures, the mixed reality sensory experience brought by holographic image technology, the smart office building sensor acquisition, the intelligent kitchen with cloud computing,  etc. What we "saw" has enlightened us to think deeply about technological innovation, and data visualization also made the visiting member representatives have a more profound understanding of the life and future innovation changed by technology.

Sharing and Communication--Digital and Information Security

Jordan Dong, Director of Product Marketing at Microsoft, began by introducing Microsoft's strategy for protecting data and information. Microsoft products are designed with the concept of protecting data and information security, such as Microsoft 365 system to ensure the discovery and classification of sensitive information, insider risk management to reduce the risk of internal data leakage and loss, management investigations after the discovery of risks and threats, and a series of tools to help manage legal and compliance obligations to protect data and information security.

The Digital Crimes Unit is comprised of technical, legal, and business experts from around the world who use innovative technologies and Microsoft technologies to disrupt cybercrime infrastructure, protect users, and strengthen global trust in Microsoft. Current focus programs include business email fraud, technical support fraud, malware, and business operational integrity. But as cybercrime continues to evolve and our understanding of new cyber threats grows, we will continue to add new priorities to our efforts." Finally, Tao Yang also briefly shared his experience in handling IPR cases involving cloud keys, hoping to cooperate and discuss IPR issues with QBPC members in the future.

Representatives from QBPC member companies Anheuser-Busch, Danfoss, Genius GmbH, Novozymes, Qualcomm, and Schneider Electric also raised questions about electronic evidence investigation and evidence collection, copyright infringement cases, criminal law enforcement and crackdown, and looked forward to more discussions, in-depth learning and communication in the future. Tao Yang said that as the coordinator of the industry group on artificial intelligence and digital, he also hopes to discuss the topic of intellectual property protection in this high-tech field with everyone in the industry group's activities.
